1 1/2 lbs Flank steak
1 tbsp Garlic
1 tsp Ginger
1 bunch Green onions
1/2 cup Soy sauce
3/4 cup Brown sugar, dark
1/2 cup Cornstarch
1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
1 cup of Vegetable oil
1/2 cup Water
Slice flank steak against the grain into 1/4-inch slices.
Cut long pieces in half to make them more bite-sized.
Toss flank steak with cornstarch and let sit 10 to 15 minutes.
Heat 1 cup Vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
Add beef in 2 batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes, until brown and crispy.
Remove meat with a slotted spoon and discard cooking oil.
Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in the same pan over medium heat.
Add ginger and garlic and saute for 30 seconds.
Add soy sauce, water, and brown sugar.
Bring to a boil and simmer until slightly thickened, 10 to 15 minutes.
Return meat to the pan along with sauce and cook over medium heat, stirring to coat.
Add red pepper flakes and green onions.
Saute an extra minute and serve over steamed rice
